JONATHAN LARSON PERFORMING ARTS FOUNDATION, INC.

Jonathan Larson struggled to support himself throughout the seven years he was creating RENT, and for many years before that. If not for emotional and financial support from friends and nonprofit organizations, Jon might have given up and never written RENT.

The Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation was established to honor his memory by providing similar assistance to others. It is one of the few places that individual creative artists can go to apply for direct financial support. Although funded primarily by Jonathan's family with proceeds from RENT, generous gifts from board members and other friends help bring us closer to the goal of making the Foundation self-supporting. Donations to the Foundation will ensure continued growth and increased support for composers, lyricists, librettists and other creative artists and nonprofit producing organizations.

Each year the Foundation provides grants to an extraordinarily talented group of individuals and organizations selected from over 150 applications. We invite you to join in our commitment to supporting and nurturing dedicated new artists like Jonathan.
